BEAUTIFUL butterflies unfolded their wings and took flight when they were released during a special tea party at a Tullibody care home last week.

Residents at The Orchard shared the moment with young guests from Abercromby Primary School's P7 class as well as P4 children from St Bernadette's Primary School on Friday, June 16.

Also in attendance were MSP Keith Brown and Councillor Ellen Forson as well as teachers from the two establishments.

During the event, the whole day at the care home was themed around the butterfly tea party after staff and residents incubated 31 caterpillar eggs.

The insects went through the process of transformation, turning into red admiral butterflies before being released in the care home's garden to the delight of all those taking part.

For the tea party itself, everyone enjoyed a lunch made by the facility's chef and there was entertainment too, from Jack High.

The event was organised by wellbeing co-ordinator Lynne Hiddleston, who said: “We all had a great day, the residents loved it.”
