This Friday Alex Salmond will step down both as the leader of the SNP and Scottish First Minister, handing over the positions to his successor Nicola Sturgeon. We took to the streets to ask people around Alloa about how he did as the country’s leader.
Richard Manderson, from Sauchie, said: “I think he is one of the best politicians we’ve got and he is one of the best politicians in Britain. Hopefully he will be back in Westminster.” Muqam Mahmood, from Alva, said: “Salmond is a great leader. He is a very intelligent man who thinks about the future of Scotland.” Douglas Thomson, from Alloa, said: “I do not like the man, but I like the fact that he tried to get us independence. But, I was not voting for him.” Anne Duncan, from Alva, said: “I think he was brilliant, really good. I hope Nicola is going to be as good as him.”
