Alloa's Kenny Wilson is continuing his training for a trek up Africa's highest peak - Mount Kilimanjaro - for Asthma UK. His latest blog covers the Clackmannanshire Walking Festival.

Big thumbs up to Clackmannanshire leisure team for their walking festival.

I took up the 'High tops of the Ochils' challenge but they also run walks designed for all grades and ages. The walk I chose started at Stirling Mills and saw us walking up The Law and across a couple more summits of The Ochils before heading down past the old silver mines and through Woodland park. This took about five hours in total.

The weather was very challenging to say the least but the three lads who were running the event led by Steven Lesley were very good at keeping the sprits of the group up and had a fantastic knowledge of the Ochil'. The Walking Festival is a brilliant event and I strongly advise any family or would-be hill walker to take advantage of these guided walks.

Remember to follow the guids on what to wear in the booklet as three people were turned away for turning up in trainers and without proper water proofs, as I said these lads who run it are professionals and will always put safety first.

Happy hiking
