It is a sad day indeed when the MP of one of the poorest areas in Scotland, one Gordon Banks, loses the plot and his moral compass by voting with the Conservatives in Westminster on Wednesday 26th March 2014) to impose a benefit cap ceiling against those in need in his own constituency. The very same people he was elected to serve and help. He was joined by another 30 of his fellow Scottish Labour MPs. I had always thought that the Labour Party was a social democratic party who stood up for the working man and the poor in our society. How times have changed. This is the second time in recent months that the beloved Labour Party has betrayed the people of Scotland - first the Bedroom Tax vote when 49 Labour MPs failed to turn up and lost the vote by 26 votes, now the benefits cap vote. The Save the Children Charity estimates that this cap on welfare will put a further 350,000 children in poverty within four years.

Well people of Clackmannanshire it’s time to stand up and be counted. It’s time for Scotland to choose another path. It’s Time to Vote Yes on September 18 to make Scotland a more socially democratic and fairer society in which to live. You never know it may even lead to a Scottish Labour Party which makes decisions that benefit Scotland and protects its people free from the control of the London centric Labour and Conservative parties of today.
