Dear Editor Tullibody’s Big Lunch Fun Event on Sunday 1 July was a success due to the support of our local community and local businesses.

We were disappointed to read in last week’s Alloa Advertiser that the event was hosted with Lotto Funds. This was not the case.

Possibly the larger Eden Project Big Lunches in the south attract Lotto funding but we did not receive any Lotto funding locally. The fund raising for the event was carried out locally and the funding for the free events was a result of donations from our local business community including: the Tron Cafe, Tron Barbers, Tower Bakery, J Hutchison & Sons, Glenview Nursery, Ladbrokes, Central Pharmacy, The Inn, Newsplus, Alloa Hire Centre and Alloa Round Table. The rest of the costs were covered by the Community Council, Tullibody Healthy Living and a community grant from Clacks Council.

On behalf of the organisers Tullibody Cambus & Glenochil Community Council and Tullibody Healthy Living Initiative I apologise for the misrepresentation and express our thanks again for the wonderful support we received from our local traders and businesses.

Yours sincerely, Janette McGowan Chair Tullibody, Cambus & Glenochil Community Council.

Ed: Sorry Janet, we apologise for any upset this caused. We acted in good faith in response to a nationally-distributed press release that we had received.
