Dear Editor Ten months on,and what a frenzy. As it is said, “in time the truth will out”, so the drilling throughout the county was ‘only exploratory, and will not involve fracking’.

Dart Energy spoke the truth – or did they, as we all believe fracking is the end game. Just when we felt comfortable that we would not have a wind farm at our back door, along comes fracking, with all the horrors that conjures up! Time to consider mini earthquakes, poisoned groundwater, subsidence, etc. etc.

The Wee County: ‘More than you imagine’; our hidden gems, The Ochils – a backdrop to the industrialisation of our landscapes. Housing estates possibly sitting on top of a labyrinth of tunnels, from the old coal mining days. The location of which, even the experts would not guarantee.

Your article (Wed 15 October) painted a picture of energy companies vying for licenses, like vultures wheeling round a carcass. Time to, ‘Look aboot ye’.Did I wish everybody a happy fracking New Year?

Yours sincerely Bob Cuthbert Alloa
