Dear Editor Kinship Carers Fostering and kinship rates were discussed at Clackmannanshire Councils’ Housing, Health and Care Committee last Thursday.

To the delight of the Clacks Kinship Carers group members, who listened intently to the debate in the council chamber, those councillors present supported the recommendation to increase the allowance to kinship carers that would be equal to the allowance paid to foster carers.

This recommendation now goes to the full council meeting in December.

Though it had taken nearly five years to get to this position, kinship carers and more importantly these vulnerable children that they look after will benefit greatly from this recommendation.

I certainly will be sitting in the chamber in December to applaud the full council when hopefully approval will be given under the values of equity and fairness.

Yours sincerely Teresa McNally (Mrs) Founder member and former chairperson of Clacks Kinship Carers Group
