Take a look back at the key moments of the Advertiser's campaign to retain the Safe Drive, Stay Alive roadshow.

January 18, 2017 – The Advertiser launches its #KeepSafeDrive campaign, after hearing from the Central Safe Drive volunteers of how they are struggling to find the £23,000 needed to support the roadshow.

January 25, 2017 – With just a few weeks to go, the volunteers finally secure enough funding for the 2017 show. With little public money going in, the group had to fundraise continually for 12 months.

February 1, 2017 – Organiser Alan Faulds opens up about the tragic loss of his friend and colleague John Noble who died while attending a call out on the Dollar Bends.

However, Alan argues that from the "horror" of the event comes the "hope" of Safe Drive, Stay Alive which will prevent others from enduring the same heartache he has experienced.

February 6-10, 2017 – The Central Safe Drive group host their tenth annual Safe Drive, Stay Alive roadshow at the Macroberts Arts Centre in Stirling. Around 4,000 school pupils, teachers and parents attended, bringing the total number of people reached by the project up to 40,000. 

The team also celebrated their 100th show during the week and once again held a free performance for members of the public to attend on the Thursday evening. Alex Rowley and Alexander Stewart, both list MSPs for the area, accepted an invitation to attend the show.

February 15, 2017 – Brave Alva woman Jennifer Howie and her mum Pauline share their powerful tale with the Advertiser in the hope of convincing the three councils in Forth Valley of the need to retain the project.

Jen was left paralysed from the neck down, as the result of a car crash in 2004. However, she and Pauline re-tell their traumatic story to thousands of young people every year to instil in them a valuable caution when getting behind the wheel.

Meanwhile, Green MSP Mark Ruskell lends his support to the #KeepSafeDrive campaign and helps to garner signatures for the Advertiser's petition on the streets of the Wee County.

February 22, 2017 – Stirling City Radio shows its support for the cause, with organiser Alan Faulds detailing the group's funding issues live on air.

March 1, 2017 – A motion from Alexander Stewart MSP achieves cross-party support and the Safe Drive, Stay Alive campaign is debated before the Scottish Parliament. A handful of members of their support for the Central Safe Drive Group, with the transport minister Humza Yousaf praising the efforts of the volunteers.

Meanwhile, Falkirk and Stirling councils confirm they will both offer continued funding for the show.

March 15, 2017 – Alan Faulds highlights the progress of the campaign, but warns that funding must be continued well beyond 2018 for the programme to continue its work.

March 22, 2017 – The newly-installed SNP administration at Clackmannanshire Council table a funding provision of £3,000 to be included in the upcoming budget.

March 29, 2017 – Clacks councillors formally signal their commitment to Safe Drive, Stay Alive.
