THE home crowd turned out in force for up-and-coming local band Vida in Fishcross at the weekend.

All tickets sold out for lead vocalist and guitarist Jamie Pollock and the group when they appeared on stage at The View in the village on Saturday, July 1.

Jamie told the Advertiser: “It was class, it was good to finally get back for a hometown show after being away up and down the country.

“They are few and far between, the local shows, so it's good to do them every now and again.”

On the night Vida were supported by fellow Alloa band Trimm and Dunfermline-based The Shambolics.

Fresh from the Isle of Wight Festival, the five-piece have a busy summer schedule ahead of them with more than a dozen dates already in the diary.

On the long run they are hoping to secure a deal with a major label and will be going back to the studio in August to record at least two more songs, to be released online sometime around October.

This Saturday, July 7, the band will be doing one of their biggest gig yet, hoping to entertain the crowd at TRNSMT Festival's Jack Rocks Stage in Glasgow.

“I can't believe we are doing it, can't wait for it”, said Jamie, “It's a massive step forwards, it's one of the major festivals in the UK.”

He added: “It's a massive opportunity because of the vast amount of people that are going to be there.”

It will be a great chance for the band to gain some new followers and there are hopes they will be able to secure a deal with a record company this year.
