Promising Dollar athlete Emma Mailer enjoyed a record-breaking weekend at the Scottish Age Groups Championships in Grangemouth as she took gold in the Under-15 300 metres.

Unable to run in both the 75 metres and the 300 metres due to timetable restrictions, she made the choice to focus on her 300m.

This decision saw her become Scottish Champion in a new PB, Club Record and Championship record of 41.99 seconds. Emma’s time also takes her to ninth on the Scottish all-time list and, with another year to compete in this age group, there will hopefully be many more such spectacular finishes to come in the year ahead.

Meanwhile, Catriona Laing ran in the Under-17 Girls 300m and achieved Silver with a personal best time of 41.72 seconds.

She missed out on the gold medal by only 0.01 of a second and also came very close to breaking a club record.

Lucy Smith competed in the Under-15 high jump and was very close to the podium, having jumped 1.45m for 5th place.

Laing and Mailer were also in action in the National Relay Championships, held in Aberdeen. Laing ran in the Under-17 Girls 4x100m and won a silver medal with a time of 49.53 seconds, while Mailer ran the anchor leg of the Under-15 Girls 4x100m.

Her team went into the competition as the overwhelming favourites and they certainly lived up to expectations, too, striking gold with a time of 50.46 seconds, nearly two seconds faster than the second-placed team.
