A charity football match in aid of a Clackmannanshire native battling cancer has been hailed as a huge success by organisers.
Liam McLaughlin was diagnosed with a brain tumour shortly before the birth of his daughter Molly, and requires expensive treatment in Australia.
Friends stepped in to help and raised thousands to cover the cost of the potentially life-saving treatment.
On a fine day for football, Team O’Sullivan proved too strong for Team McLaughlin, running out 7-4 winners in an entertaining match.
Liam McLaughlin claimed the Man of the Match award at the final whistle, while Andrew Gibson’s two spectacular strikes saw him take home the Golden Boot.
As well as the match itself, there was also entertainment from Martin Mullady, who got the crowd going with some popular songs, and Donald Cowan on bagpipes.
Organiser David O’Sullivan revealed that £3,430 had been raised in total.
He said: “I’d just like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in helping, supporting, donating, singing and playing. We couldn’t have pulled it all off without the help of everyone. I hope that money can help towards Liam defeating cancer.”
