Team Tasker competed at the weekend in the final round of the Melville Motor Club Championship at East Fortune.

The weekend was set to be a challenging and exciting one for the entire team with a number of races lined up for both Sammi and Andrew.

Saturday was a mixed bag, with both riders having to contend with sun and rain during qualifying. Andrew put his Kawasaki ZX10 on pole for the Scottish Superbike races and Sammi put the pink Suzuki GSXR on the front row qualifying in 4th for the Superstock 600 race.

It was challenging as during qualifying Andrew had a mechanical issue with the ZX10, which potentially put his championship title in jeopardy. However with amazing support from everyone in the paddock, Andrew took to the track for the Scottish Championship race. In the race Andrew knew that his closest rival Tim Hastings had to finish below 3rd place for Andrew to regain the title of Scottish Superbike Champion. The race was fast paced and all the riders gave it their all. Coming over the line in 8th place and with Tim Hastings finishing in 4th Andrew was crowned Scottish Superbike Champion for a second year.

A Jubilant Andrew told Advertiser sport: “This season can only be described as eventful. Throughout the season we have had a few mechanical issues that the team worked through to make sure the bike was always ready to race. This weekend I knew the championship was within my grasp and I wanted to give everything I had. During qualifying when the bike had a mechanical issue I thought that was it. Then fellow rider Steve Nicoll came to the team and offered us his bike to use for the race. I can’t thank him and the rest of the team and paddock for their help and support this weekend. Retaining my title as Scottish Superbike Champion means the world to me and I wanted to make my sponsors, family and followers proud. I have to give a huge thanks to mum and dad. Along with Sammi and Erin they are my rock during a race weekend.”

His sibling Sammi on her Suzuki GSXR, also had an amazing weekend battling hard on the track with riders such as Lewis Rollo. During the racing, Sammi achieved two 2nd place finishes, a 3rd and a 6th. During race one on Sunday, Sammi had a blistering start and was leading the race coming into the hairpin before it was red flagged and they had to restart the race. Overall though, it was a blistering display from the talented rider.

Sammi added: “I have had a great weekend and I am really delighted with my results. Fighting for the lead in the races was really exhilarating and I am looking forward to being back on track soon, hoping to achieve the same kind of results. I want to congratulate Andrew on becoming Scottish Champion for a second year in a row. He has fought hard this season and I am really proud of him. Big thanks to everyone for all their hard work. Keeping both bikes in top condition is hard work for everyone and we would like to thank our sponsors GSH Building Services, Motorcycle Law Scotland, Wheels Around and YPE Power. I want to give the biggest thank you to our mum and dad, without them especially we wouldn’t be competing in the sport we both love.”

All of Team Tasker is now looking forward to the next round of the Scottish Championship which will take place at Knockhill Race Circuit on 26th & 27th September.
