Hillfoots ................................. 12

Strathmore ............................. 25

Hillfoots slumped to their second defeat of the league campaign. The 'Foots lightweight pack was no match for the heavyweights from Forfar. The homeside failed to win enough set piece possession to play their wide game. Strathmore took the game to Hillfoots who found themselves trailing at half-time by 18 points thanks to three unconverted tries and a penalty from the visitors.

The second half started brightly for 'Foots. The pack secured some decent ball and after 5 minutes the back line finally cut loose. A chip through the centre was poorly dealt with by the visiting defence allowing Martin Mcnee to pounce and scamper over.

The Wee County side were at last putting some decent play together but the momentum couldn't be sustained and it was Strathmore that struck next, going over between the posts to secure the bonus point.

Hillfoots dug deep and kept looking for the breakthrough. Eventually it came through McNee again.

'Foots turned the ball over on halfway, moving the ball out to the right. Mcnee took the ball at pace rounding his man and touching down. Gregor Manson converted. Hillfoots pushed for a losing bonus but all too often the moves broke down.

Next up is the long away trip to Caithness where Hillfoots need to take something to get their season started.
