WASPS skipper Dougie Hill says Falkirk will be in for a fight when they head to the Indodrill Stadium for their SPFL Championship clash this weekend.

The big defender was gutted with the 3-0 defeat to Hibs at Easter Road last Saturday, but says there was some real bright spots for them to build on.

Peter Houston now brings the Bairns to the Wee County this Saturday for the highly anticipated local derby and the Alloa Captain believes it is the perfect game for them to bounce back in.

Hill told Advertiser sport: “The Falkirk games are always good because they bring a good crowd with them. Even when I was at Raith, I looked forward to the games against them. It will be another tough game for us because they have a lot of good full time players and they are doing well at the minute. They are scoring goals, but they're conceding them as well. We need to be on our game at the back and look to cause them some problems at the back as well, but we will certainly be confident of giving them something to think about. We know we will get chances so we just have to make sure we take them. We know they are tight going forward so we must be tight at the back. People who have watched our last two games will see just how much effort we are putting in. We knew that Dumbarton was a massive game in terms of our own confidence, we got a huge lift from that and now we will look to get that first home win too.

“After we lost the goal, Hibs really pressed us well and forced us into kicking the ball the way we were facing at times and that really isn't the way we want to play the game. There are massive positives to take from the last two weeks. The first half performance at Hibs and the display at Dumbarton we really looked like an Alloa team again. One like the last three years that the fans can be proud of. We defended well, were hard to play against and even the goals Hibs scored, each of them were avoidable so we know we're no too far away. We need everyone to focus on their jobs 100% because if one person switches off it can kill the way we play.”

Hill was incensed by the decision not to rule out Hibs' opening goal for offside and he says being proven right by the replays only makes it a more bitter pill to swallow for them.

He said: “We went to Easter Road with a game plan that we felt was working until they get a break with an offside goal in the 43rd minute. I knew at the time it was offside, that's why I was complaining to the linesman and then the confirmation on the video doesn't make it any easier to take. He's half a yard offside so it is disappointing for the officials to miss it and that has really killed us right before the interval. We set up all week to frustrate them and I think we did that up until that point. We knew if we defended well as a team then we would get chances at the other end and we had chances early on which might have changed things on another day, but it wasn't to be. I believe if we don't lose the first one then we wouldn't have switched off for the second so it is really a refereeing decision that has cost us in the end.”

The Wasps were rocked by the release of big striker Geoff Mitchell over the weekend and the skipper now believes gaffer Danny Lennon must act quickly to fill the void left behind.

Hill added: “I think it is vital to get someone into replace Geoff, but whoever the manager brings in, they will be partnering an exceptional player in Michael Chopra. If you work hard up alongside him, he will create chances and get them goals. Danny is scouring who's available, but then almost every team in the division is after a striker at the minute. It will be difficult, but with us losing the big man, we definitely need someone else in.”
