ALLOA Athletic star Robbie Crawford says the whole dressing room still believe they have what it takes to turn things around.

The Wasps slumped to the foot of the SPFL Championship and are now seen by many as the favourites for relegation after their 3-0 home defeat at the hands of rivals Livingston last weekend.

But the versatile midfielder insists that result is merely a blip and says the dressing room are ready for the battle to save their season.

Crawford told Advertiser Sport: “The Livingston defeat is a real tough one to take for us. We were feeling confident going into the game after the result against Falkirk the previous week, but it just didn't happen for us last weekend. We played well in patches, but the consistency wasn't there for us and this league always finds a way of punishing you when you're not at your best so we are bitterly disappointed.

“It wasn't through a lack of effort, we knew the importance of the game coming in, but it just hasn't clicked for us on the day. It doesn't surprise us to be back bottom again because we know how tough this league is and with so many full time teams we have been up against it from the start, but we all still believe we are good enough to climb the table so we will keep fighting each week.

“There is no doubt at all in mind that this result is just a blip. We have already shown with the Falkirk result that we can mix it with the best in the league on our day. I have no doubts that we will learn from this and come back stronger for it.”

Crawford is on loan at the Indodrill Stadium until January from runaway league leaders Rangers and admits the rest of the squad have helped him to settle in quickly to allow him to turn his focus to doing his bit for the team.

He said : “I have settled in really well here at Alloa. The boys have all made me feel so welcome and I am just happy to play anywhere the manager needs me so I can do my bit for the team. I feel I have a few goals in me as well, I have had a few chances already and I feel like the goal is coming for me, but as long as I am doing my bit for the team then that's the main thing.”

The 23-year-old is now focusing on a tricky trip to Paisley with the Wasps to meet St Mirren this weekend and he sees it as the perfect type of game to put things right.

Crawford added: “The St Mirren game is exactly what we need to be honest and that's the great thing about football there is always the next game to put things right. St Mirren have had problems of their own this season, and we know it will be a difficult game, but if we go there and win like others have already then we will close the gap on them. Obviously, they will be boosted by the draw with Hibs at Easter Road, but we will just keep focusing on what we can do see where it takes us.”
