The weekend brought to a close the 2015 Scottish Motorcycle Racing Championship, at Knockhill Race Circuit. Team Tasker were all geared up for a great last round. With Andrew already securing the title of Scottish Superbike Champion and Sammi looking to comfortably get a top ten finish in the Scottish Superstock Championship, this weekend was all about enjoying their racing and getting points for the Knockhill Motorsports Championship.

Coming into the weekend, the Andrew was relaxed knowing he would get at least a top 3 in the Knockhill championship. However, come race day Sunday it soon materialised that Andrew was joint on points with Bruce Birnie to the Knockhill championship title. Qualifying on pole but racing against riders like Bruce, Sean Gilfillan and Keith Amor, Andrew knew it was going to be fast paced out on track. The weekend gave the spectators some thrilling racing. For the championship points it all came down to the final race on Sunday. Whoever won between Andrew and Bruce would be crowned Knockhill Superbike Champion. It was definitely a race not to be missed, with both riders getting amazing starts and battling hard through every lap. In the end it came down to the last lap, last corner. Andrew came out the hairpin first and powered his Kawasaki ZX10 up to the finish line, he and Bruce were side by side going over the line and the result ended that Bruce won by 0.51 of a second over Andrew.

Andrew said: “That was one of the best races I’ve had. A big congratulation to Bruce for winning the Knockhill Championship. Knowing I had the Scottish Superbike Championship title after the last round, winning this would have been a great bonus, but you can’t win them all. I have to give a massive thanks to GSH Building Services, Wheels Around, Motorcycle Law Scotland, YPE and all my family and friends for supporting us this year. It has been an amazing year for the entire team.”

Sammi was back racing at Knockhill for only the second time this season and proved why she is one of the fastest females on track in Scotland. Putting her Suzuki GSXR in 5th position during qualifying and having some amazing battles on track with riders such as Angus Mearns, Kristopher Duncan and Jodie Chalk. Sammi finished the weekend with four top ten finishes, a 5th, two 7th places and a 6th.

Sammi added: “It was great being back racing at Knockhill. The atmosphere was electric with it being the final round of the season and everyone was buzzing. I am happy with my results this weekend and I am now looking forward to racing again in two weeks in the final round of the North East Championship at East Fortune. It was also great to see so many people come to cheer on and support the riders this weekend.”

You can see Andrew and Sammi back out on track in two weeks 10-11 October at East Fortune for the final round of the North East Motorcycle Club championship.
