Wellsfield Trout Fishery
The fishery is open late in the evenings for evening fishing sessions - Fly and Bait Fishing. Open from 8am till 7pm, as of 5 October. 7 days per week. 
Attention all anglers and angling clubs: Wellsfield Fishery is pleased to announce we now offer catch and release permits for fly fishing. Anglers will be able to fish on once they have caught their bag limit for the duration of their permits. We also now offer sporting permits (100% C&R).

Davy McGowan Memorial Cup: The first two teams booked their places in the semi finals of the first cup of the season this week with the Oakwood C beating The Bank 5-3 on Tuesday and Crown A defeating The Inn by the same score.
These two teams square up to each other on Thursday, October 22.The third and fourth quarter-finals take place this week with the Cairn A up against Alva Golf Club on Tuesday. And on Thursday it’s the Oakwood B v The Inn B with the winners meeting in the second semi-final on Thursday, October 29.
Scottish Doubles Finals: Good luck to the Shire’s two representatives in this weekends Scottish doubles finals taking place in Pennies Pool hall in Falkirk.
Sean McEwan and Steven Smith of the Cairn A and Alan Banks and Denis Lindsay of Weirs are hoping to take the national title home with them along with the other 62 pairings.
Scottish Singles Qualifying: The qualifying for the last and biggest ranking event of the season took place on Sunday with three spaces up for grabs at the finals.
In group one it was one of the Shire’s youngsters, Kevin Polley from the Crown A, showing his potential coming through a very tough section defeating Denis Lindsay 8-5, his older brother Grant 8-4 and finally his team-mate Barry Wraith 8-5.
In group two it was one of the elder statesmen of the game, the Cairn A’s Billy Snaddon who came through. With Billy receiving a bye in his first match, he followed that up with an 8-4 win over his fellow team-mate Ryan Walker and in his last match a fine 8-2 win over Johnny Martin of the Inn.
Finally, in group three, it was the Shire’s highest ranked player at the moment, Pete Smith of the Cairn A, who showed some good form. He went on to win 8-5 against Murray Fleming of the Crown B, 8-3 against Kevin Redfern again from the Crown B and finally winning 8-2 against his team-mate Sean McEwan, who had just had an excellent 8-6 win over team-mate and Scottish international Billy Stirling.
Good luck to all three at the finals taking place at the Dumbuck Hotel in Dumbarton on Saturday/Sunday, 24 and 25 October.
Scottish County Championships: With both the Premier Division and the following week of the First Division championships taking place in only four and five weeks time, can all county players selected please pay their fees ASAP to the relative captains to make things run as smoothly as possible.
