Alloa RFC 1st XV……………………………………81

Howe of Fife 2nd XV………………….....…………..19

THE EARLSFIELD side bounced back from last weekend’s cup disappointment with a comfortable win to extend their unbeaten league record.

Despite being forced into a number of changes, the home side quickly settled into the match and after securing possession straight from the kick off they controlled the ball for no fewer than 15 phases before releasing Rab Truesdale to bundle his way over from short range.

Alloa proceeded to dominate both possession and territory for the next half hour and further tries from Truesdale, James Shaw, Dale Foster, Stevie Skelton and a double from Lee Cairney built up a comfortable 45 – 0 lead.

At this point, the home side appeared to take their foot off the gas and a spirited Howe side mounted a mini revival when they scored 3 quick tries to record a half time score of 45 -19.

However, normal service was restored during the second period when the home side once again stepped up the pace to dominate proceedings and 6 further tries from Lee Cairney (3), Sabelo Sam, John Hesketh and Rab Truesdale sealed a convincing victory.

Young Winger, Lee Cairney contributed 41 points following his 5 tries and 8 conversions and might count himself unlucky not to have received the Man of the Match award, but not for the first time this season it was Matt Pope who got the vote after an another terrific Back Row performance.

The 1st XV now head to Kirkcaldy on Saturday – 2pm KO, whilst the Development side travel to Dundee to face Stobswell.
