Kirkcaldy 2nd XV…………………………………………………………….5

Alloa 1st XV………………………………………………………………….71

With a third of the season completed, Alloa sit top of Midlands Division 2 with maximum points following last Saturday’s trip to Beveridge Park.

The home side were looking to build on their previous week’s victory at Kinross, but Alloa proved to be too strong for the hard working Fifers with what was eventually a comfortable victory.

The visitors were forced into making a few changes from the previous week’s win over Howe with Skipper, Gary Taylor and Player/Coach, Stevie Skelton unavailable. Stevie Jack and Matt Allan were the respective positional replacements with Young Liam MacAulay moving into the Second Row berth vacated by Jack. Martin MacKenzie also slotted back in at Scrum Half.

The first half was not a classic by any manner of means, but Alloa still managed to score three tries to Kirkcaldy’s one, with Dale Foster scoring two and Matt Pope scoring the other.

On too many occasions during this period, the visitors failed to secure the ball and were guilty of numerous turnovers and handling errors at crucial times, although the Fife side deserve some of the credit for this with their defensive efforts.

However, Alloa stepped up the gears in the second half and eliminated the errors, to produce an accomplished performance that saw them run in another eight tries from Doig, Pope (2), Aitken, Sam, Allan and Cairney.

Dale Foster would have been in the running for the Man of the Match award after turning in another fine performance at Hooker and completing his hat trick of scores near the end of the match. But the accolade deservedly went to Martin MacKenzie who controlled proceedings at the base of the scrum.

Allow now have a week’s rest before returning to league action on Saturday 14th November where the visitors to Earlsfield are Kinross – 2pm KO.
