Former Rangers and Hearts keeper Scott Gallacher has joined Alloa Athletic on a deal until the end of the season.

He becomes the first new signing at the club for gaffer Jack Ross after securing the services of the 26-year-old following his departure from the Tynecastle club by mutual consent on Monday, and admits he is delighted to be reunited with his former coach.

The Motherwell native came through the youth system at Murray Park with Rangers and had previous experience on loan to Cowdenbeath, Airdrie and Forfar Athletic, but now he is desperate to make his make for Alloa in the SPFL Championship.

Gallacher told Advertiser sport, "I am delighted to come here and hopefully I can come in and get some game time because I never really got a look in at Hearts. It is quite frustrating to train hard every week, but then be sat watching on a Saturday. I want to be playing football so hopefully I can do that here and try my best to help the team to climb the table.

"The Championship is still a very competitive league and an exciting one to play in, but I am aware that we need to try and get some points on the board quickly. I knew Jack from my time with Hearts, he is an excellent coach and his training is excellent so it was an easy decision to come and work with him again. I just can't wait to get started now."

Gallacher is expected to go straight into the squad for this weekend's crunch SPFL Championship clash at home to Greenock Morton, as they look to build on their 1-0 win at Raith Rovers in midweek.
