Alloa Rugby Football Club welcomed both Alloa and Lornshill Academy's first year School of Rugby Pupils to Earlsfield last Sunday as part of an initiative to align School and Club rugby.

With both schools having competed in a schools league up until Christmas, the focus is now on them combining to play further matches under the Alloa RFC banner.

The pupils took part in varied coaching sessions hosted by Glasgow Warriors players Glenn Bryce, a Scotland 7s internationalist, his brother Kevin, who represented the full Scotland side at the 2015 World Cup, and Edinburgh Gunners scrum half Sean Kennedy, a team-mate of Glenn at international level.

All three are former Alloa Rugby Club youth players, and parents and children were invited to attend a question and answer session with the players.

Alloa Rugby Club's Youth Co-Ordinator, Scott Harrison, said: “It was great to see so many new faces having fun with the Professional players. It doesn’t seem that long ago that Glenn, Kevin and Sean were part of our youth set up and it speaks volumes for them that they took time out of their busy schedules to return to their roots and put something back into the club. We hope that the pupils and parents enjoyed the morning and that they continue to develop their rugby skills at the club and further boost our successful youth set up, which has already seen an increase in excess of 50 new players since the start of the season.”
