Alloa Athletic boss Jack Ross has agreed a deal to sign striker Mitch Megginson from SPFL Championship rivals Raith Rovers.

It was originally thought the player might join the club on a loan deal, but as the Wasps have already used up their over 21 loans for this season, that had threatened to hinder the move.

Advertiser sport understands the player has since come to a verbal agreement with Ray McKinnon to release him from his contract at Raith paving the way for a second spell with the Wasps.

The 23-year-old is understood to have signed a permanent deal with the Clackmannanshire outfit that will keep him at the Indodrill Stadium until the end of the season, subject to the league clearance and once his official release from the Kircaldy outfit is confirmed.

Alloa and Hillfoots Advertiser:

The move will come as great relief to the manager and fans alike after going along for much of the season with very little help for the likes of Michael Duffy and Michael Chopra.

Megginson scored three goals in 10 appearances for Alloa in a loan spell back in the 2012/2013 season when Paul Hartley was still manager and also spent time working with Jack Ross at Dumbarton.
