ALLOA skipper Dougie Hill says they must be fully focused ahead Tuesday night’s crucial SPFL Championship clash with Greenock Morton.

The Wasps go into the game five points adrift at the foot of the table, and a win would close the gap to nearest rivals Livingston in the fight for survival.

The former Raith Rovers defender says all thoughts of their upcoming double header with Rangers and Hibs must be put to one side on Tuesday.

Hill told Advertiser sport: “The next two games will be great for us to play in because of the big crowds and teams like Rangers and Hibs are full of great players to test ourselves again, but realistically anything we get would be a real bonus to us.

"We need to put them to one side though because there is no getting away from how massive the Morton game is for us.

“We know we outplayed them last time and were by far the better team, but that game has gone now and we need to focus on delivering what would be a crucial three points for us.

"They have beaten twice already this season so we know the threat they pose, but if we can start in the same manner as the last game then hopefully we can get the same kind of result.

"That would bring us within touching distance of Livingston and so that would be a huge boost for us.”

Gaffer Jack Ross has warned his players to forget about the previous game against Jim Duffy’s side where they led 1-0 through Michael Duffy’s goal, only for the game to be halted because of heavy snow.

The 39-year-old admits he was quick to accept the offer to play the game in midweek because of their difficult double header with Rangers and Hibs that follows.

Ross said: “We were keen to try and play the Morton game as soon as possible especially given our own schedule with Rangers and Hibs up next for us.

"Obviously when the club offered me the chance of playing it this week I jumped at the chance because of the break we had last weekend and also as it is a good chance to get three points on the board.

"I am delighted in that sense that it has been rearranged and I know that the players are looking forward to the game.

“The key thing for me is that the players don't go into the game thinking they had won the previous game that was abandoned. We didn't. We played well for an hour and had a good grip on the game, but in football all manner of things could've happened from that.

"Now we just have to treat this as a clean slate, we can certainly take heart from that performance though and if we can produce something like that again then we will give ourselves a good chance.”

The injury news ahead of the match is bitter sweet for Ross as he is boosted by the return of midfielder Iain Flannigan, but revealed striker Michael Chopra now faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

He added: “The only player missing for us is Michael Chopra who has unfortunately had another set back again with his ankle injury so he is likely to be out for longer. Iain Flannigan is back which gives us a lift and that means it is virtually a full squad other than Michael.”
