Lochore Welfare ........................ 1

Sauchie Juniors .......................... 3

SAUCHIE came from behind to battle past the ten-men of Lochore Welfare in their Fife and Lothians cup tie last Saturday.

It was tough going for the Super League side against lower league opposition.

There was not a lot of choice for Fraser Duncan with injuries taking their toll. Steven Dolan was starting as a target man up front along side Ian Diack and had a superb game causing havoc to the home defenders with his height and strength.

Lochore fielded ex Hearts and Scotland star Colin Cameron in their midfield, but he was not going to see out the full ninety minutes with Sauchie captain Brian Morgan giving him a torrid time and the home player getting an early shower for a second yellow card.

Lochore made a smart start. Daniel Watt and Lee Celentano combined on the half way line with the ball played over the top allowing Watt to move into the box and around Ross Harkness to net worth n 2 minutes.

The Sauchie goal area was busy as Watt, Celentano and Alistair McDonald all troubled Roger Duffin and company but failed to hit the target.

David Morrison and Morgan gained control of the game and Sauchie started to attack down both flanks. A Morrison cross was volleyed at goal by Ryan Millar with Gary Inglis parrying the shot and cleared for a corner by Graeme Moore.

Jon Tully got his head on the flag kick with the keeper getting his body in the way to deny. Gary McCulloch then swept the ball into the box with Inglis having to stretch to touch over.

Sauchie drew level in 35 minutes. Morgan released the lively Millar and he cut back from the bye line and found Tully who netted at the second attempt after the keeper had blocked the first attempt.

McCulloch was defending in front of the back three and controlling the home attempts to break forward and release danger an Watt.

Morrison controlled a Stuart McFarlane pass with Kris Vaughan fouling on the edge of the box. Morgan stepped up to crash the free kick past the wall and through the keeper for a stunning finish and put Sauchie in front.

Josh Flood then pushed down the right and released Morrison who in turn set Diack free in the area only to be denied by the keeper. Tully was again the target from the corner with Inglis diving to clear the danger.

Lochore went down to ten men in 75 minutes when Cameron received his second yellow card of the game for a two footed, straight legged tackle on Morgan.

Sauchie made sure of their place in the draw for the next round four minutes later. Dolan, who had worked his socks off, controlled and fed inside to Morrison who again placed into the path of Diack to fire the ball into the net from 15 yards.

Sauchie - Harkness, McFarlane, Tully, McCulloch, Duffin, Morgan, Flood (Syme), Morrison (Tapping), Diack, Dolan, Millar .

Sauchie are away to Penicuik on Saturday in a McBookies.com Super League match. Kick off 2.30pm.
