LOAN star Michael Duffy bemoaned Alloa's rotten luck at home this season as the jinx struck once again in the 1-0 defeat to St Mirren last weekend.

The 21-year-old reckons the Wasps have had every piece of bad breaks going at the Indodrill stadium meaning they head into the final five games still searching for a first home win of the SPFL Championship campaign.

The Celtic youngster thought he had given his side the lead with a ferocious point blank net-bound effort on 73 minutes and admits he still can't quite grasp just how Jamie Langfield got a hand to it.

Duffy told Advertiser sport: “It just seems to be the usual every week for us at home and it just looks more and more like this elusive win here just isn't going to come for us. It feels like everything has been against us here whether it has been a wrong decision, a break of luck or even the weather! We were so unlucky against St Mirren because we were the better team for long spells, but what can we do, it has happened now and we just need to move on.

“I still can't believe Langfield has saved my shot. He had dived the other way, I couldn't have gotten anymore power on the ball and yet he has still got such a strong hand to it. It's an incredible save and any other day I could mis-kick it and it would go in, but again that seems to be our luck here.”

Duffy admits the whole dressing room was flat last weekend after suffering the double blow of their late defeat and Livingston’s shock win at Falkirk.

But the talented young forward says the pride in the Wasps' dressing room will not allow them to stop trying to end the season on a high starting with their visit to face the Lions this weekend.

He said: “The boys are obviously a bit flat now especially given we should've won our game then Livingston have gone and made things worse by nicking an unexpected win against Falkirk. It's tough to take. Things are obviously looking bleak for us now being so many points behind, but we are a proud bunch of lads so we will just keep our heads up and finish out the season.

“At Livingston next week, we just need to repeat the performance from the St Mirren game. If we can do that then it will make it hard for them as well as the rest of the teams we have still to play. That is all we can do, but we will be looking to go out to earn as many wins as we can and if we can achieve that at least then we will hold our heads high.”

The proud Northern Irishman was delighted to impress with Under 21s boss Jim Magilton in attendance at the Indodrill Stadium and he hopes it will lead to more international game time.

Duffy added: “I was delighted with my performance and especially in the second half, but to produce it in front of the Northern Ireland Under 21s boss was an added bonus for me. Hopefully, now I have done enough to catch his eye for the upcoming qualifiers.”
