Alloa 85 Panmure 3

Alloa overwhelmed a stubborn Panmure outfit to set themselves up for a real tilt at the title in April.

Matt Pope scored as early as the first minute finishing of a flowing Alloa move. Lee Cairney struck over the touchline conversion - the first of ten successful kicks from thirteen attempts from the Alloa right wing who also scored four tries in a personal haul of forty points. Twice Alan Keir timed his intrusion into the line from full back to perfection and his beautifully timed passes sent in Cairney and then opposite wing Daniel Murrell. Skipper Gary Taylor crossed on the twenty minute mark as Alloa kept up their perfect record of recording a try scoring bonus point in every league match this season. Cairney completed his hat-trick, Taylor got on the end of a perfect offload by Phil Edwards, Alan Keir turned try scorer from provider and Andrew McTaggart drove over as Alloa put the game firmly to bed before the break (HT 59-0).

Early second half tries by Cairney and Matt Pope suggested a repeat of the opening period however a stiffening wind and Panmure's determination to continue to compete kept the scoreline within the realms of respectability. Indeed Panmure enjoyed a decent spell of pressure in the second period however Alloa have by far the meanest defence in the league and the Broughty Ferry side eventually opted to slot over a penalty to open their account.

Alloa finished strongly and scored two further excellent tries through Daniel Murrell and replacement wing Ross Brydie.

A local derby now beckons with Grangemouth at Glensburgh - never an easy place to pick up points - however Alloa are now unbeaten in 16 league consecutive league fixtures spanning back over a year and will set out tis weekend to put themselves in a good place for the top of the table clash against Harris at Earlsfield the following week.
