Wasps manager Jack Ross was thrilled for his players after they stunned Hibs to claim their first home win of the season.

Michael Duffy's first-half strike was enough to secure all three points for his side, and the manager says everything fell into place at the right time.

Ross told Advertiser Sport: “I am delighted for the players. I know the result will point to things being different from what they have previously but they have not. That is how we have played over the last three or four months, particularly in a lot of games here, but the difference today was that little things fell for us when they maybe haven't previously. I am really happy for the players because they deserve that. They are going out of this league taking another scalp. To get something from the game we had to be good and we were.”

The former St Mirren and Falkirk defender was delighted to see his side's winner given by the referee after Duffy's effort crashed off the underside of the crossbar and landed just over the line, and he says it is about time luck went his team's way.

He said: “I actually didn't think the goal had been given because the way things have been for us this season, we have hit posts, we have had saves, we have had snow and a whole lot of other things. That was good for us because it meant we came in at half time in a really positive frame of mind. Arguably, although we gave up a lot of territory and possession, we had the better chances in the second half as well.”

Ross was relieved that his side managed to end their poor home record with their first victory at the Indodrill Stadium.

He added: “Nobody wants to be part of a side that goes through a whole season without winning at home, whatever level you are at. In the last two home games we have lost an injury time goal to Raith and should have beaten St Mirren, so they got what they deserved. It is nice to put it to bed because the players didn't deserve to have that tag throughout the season.”
