Alloa stalwart Eddie Ferns is hoping that his hundredth appearance for the Wasps is not his last after he reached his century of games last week.

The winger reached the milestone when he came off the bench during the draw with Livingston on April 2.

Ferns told Advertiser Sport: “It's nice to finally get there. It's taken four seasons but it's nice to get there. To get 100 appearances at a top level is special. Hopefully I can get a couple more over the rest of the season and then build on it next season.”

The 24-year-old admitted the achievement was slightly overshadowed by Alloa's relegation, which was confirmed on the same day, and he says he will be glad when what has been a difficult campaign is finally over.

He said: “It's just been one of those seasons for us. It has been tough hard season and we will be glad to get it over with. Obviously now we know our fate and we are dropping down a league but we will do our best to rebuild and take it from there.”

Ferns believes that the Wasps' performances have been promising, and he is now hoping to end this season on a positive note as their three-year stay in the Championship comes to an end.

He added: “We have played well in the majority of games but nothing has fallen for us. We have three games to go so hopefully we can get a couple of wins and make sure the table doesn't reflect as badly on us.”
