GOALKEEPER Scott Gallacher says he will forever be indebted to Alloa Athletic and Jack Ross for giving him the chance to forge his reputation as a number one.

The 26-year-old joined the Wasps last January in a bid to rescue his career after frustrating spells with Rangers and then Hearts that saw him starved of first team action.

Now he hopes the experiences and exposure can propel him back into full time football.

Gallacher told Advertiser sport: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and it is a special club to play for. You can see how much it means to the fans and hopefully they have been happy with my performances. It has been great just to come here and play games because I have previously struggled to nail down that number one spot. To get a run of games at a very high standard in such a competitive league has been such a pleasure for me. We have had a great bunch of lads here at the club and they have made life ten times easier for me.

“It was obviously a risk leaving Hearts, but I knew I needed first team football for the sake of my career and things really fell into plan with Jack Ross coming here. I had a brilliant relationship with him at Hearts so I was just delighted to come here and help him out at Alloa. It has been such a great experience for me because I have been able to prove myself to a lot of people that I can perform well at a very high level.

“To go to the likes of Ibrox and Easter Road and compete in TV matches have done my confidence the world of good and hopefully I can build on that next season. It is just a case of waiting to see what happens in the summer now for me, but I haven't made any decisions at this stage. Ideally, I would like to get back to playing full time football, but if it doesn't happen then it won't bother me. I have the confidence of playing games here now and so I will always be grateful to Jack and the club for that.”

Gallacher has likely played his last game for the club as he looks to pursue his full time dream this summer, but he has backed the club to bounce right back to the Championship this season in his absence.

He added: “If the gaffer can retain the majority of the players here then I have absolutely no doubt they will be up there challenging for promotion next season. We have competed really well under Jack in such a difficult league so if they can reproduce that in the league below then they must go very close to promotion.”
