THE Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship visited nearby Knockhill Racing Circuit two weeks ago.

The main BTCC event was supported by the F4 British Championship, the Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup, the Porsche Carrera Cup and the Simpson Race Products Ginetta Junior Championship on the weekend of August 13 and 14.

BTCC featured three races, the first one was one by Subaru BMR Racing's Jason Plato, who marked his 500th BTCC race in style, recording his 95th career victory.

The double champion controlled the opening race from start to finish, becoming the 11th winner of a highly unpredictable season this year.

Race two saw a close battle between top-three finishers Matt Neal of Halfords Yuasa Racing with his honda Covic Type-R, Sam Tordoff of Team JCT600 with his BMW 125i M Sport and Jason Plato, who already had a win under his belt.

Plato led the pack for nearly the whole race, defending attacks from the chasing BMWs and his team mate Colin Turkington.

Carrying 75kg of ballast took its toll eventually and Neal, who started eight, overtook Plato in the final stages of the race.

The third race also saw a different driver crossing the chequered flag in Mat Jackson of Motorbase Performance in his Ford Focus.

He clinched victory following a display of defensive driving, holding off Sam Tordoff and Jason Plato.
