ALLOA gaffer Jack Ross admits he is running out of compliments for his all conquering stars as the 3-0 Irn Bru Cup win over East Fife made it ten wins in a row in all competitions.

The winning sequence is a new all time club record and the Wasps boss says he could not be more proud of the players' achievements so far.

Many people will get caught up in the manner of Alloa's winning run as they have laid waste to the majority of teams put in front of them in style so far, but the manager is keen to acknowledge the part of the defensive line that has seen them record seven clean sheets in the same ten games.

Ross told Advertiser Sport: "I feel like I am starting to repeat myself each week, but I have emphasised to the players that what they have done is just terrific achievement.

"It was good to see them enjoying it after the East Fife, as against a fortnight ago against the same opponents the players came in after the game a wee bit flat after losing a late goal.

"The first half in a lot of these games have been so good that sometimes that winning feeling has disappeared by full time with the way the second half has panned out.

"I think now they recognise that what they are doing is something special. At any level of football it is not achieved very often and the players should enjoy it and take great pride from it, but I keep emphasising we need to keep it going."

He added: "It would be hard not to acknowledge the seven clean sheets as well and Neil Parry deserves a huge amount of credit for that because he has made big saves in games. He did that again against East Fife and it is not like he has had nothing to do in these games.

"We have not been dominant and teams have had opportunities against us. We are playing against good teams as well, but Neil is in a great run of form and he is getting more in his general manner.

"Hopefully that won't be overlooked though because everybody will focus on the ten wins."

Ross was delighted to advance to the last 16 of the Irn Bru Cup, but admits he is relieved that the next game will once again be played on a Saturday during the next international break.

He said: "I am looking forward to the next round and delighted it will again be played on a Saturday which makes a big difference. It allows us to approach the fixture as a normal game, if it had been a midweek game, then I would have had a different approach in terms of personnel because we would have looked at the fatigue factor.

"We are just happy to be in the next round though and also to keep the winning sequence going."

Alloa now face a crunch showdown with title rivals Livingston at the Indodrill Stadium this coming weekend, but the former St Mirren star says his players will treat it the same as any other game.

Ross added: "I don't think the Livingston game is any bigger or more difficult than the ones we have had so far. It is simply just another challenge for us. We had them watched at the weekend, but we know it will be competitive because we had many close battles with them last season.

"They managed to come out on the right side of that in that they sent us down automatically, so maybe that is a bit of incentive for us to try and put that right, but for us it is just another game.

"We need to try to accumulate as many points as we can while we are in such a good vein of form so that is what we will look to do and we go into it in a confident mood."
