BSC GLASGOW were taken down by a clinical East Stirlingshire side at Ochilview on Saturday afternoon.

Two second half goals for Andy Rodgers followed Kris Faulds’ effort to condemn BSC to their third away defeat of the season.

Mark Adams named an unchanged side from Wednesday’s win over Vale of Leithen, with Arnault Bembo making his second start of the season as he continues to make his comeback from injury.

After a fairly opening 15 minutes, BSC forced Shire goalkeeper Jamie Barclay, who impressed throughout, into making the first of many saves.

Tom Woods struck low after Aidan Ferris had won the ball high up the park, but Barclay dove to his right to punch away well.

But only minutes later the Shire were ahead as a slick attacking move left Paul Sludden room to turn and play in Faulds on the overlap, who took a touch before firing across Joe Wilton and in.

Though BSC went in a goal down at the break, Adams’ side then had their best spell of the game in the opening period of the second half, coming close to an equaliser.

After Shaun Bowers had won a corner, Bell headed the ball back in to the danger zone before Barclay punched up into the air under pressure.

Ferris competed on the line, forcing a poor clearance, only as far as Woods who volleyed at goal only to see his effort cannon off one of the many Shire defenders in the six yard box.

After Bembo had an effort from distance saved again by Barclay, Shire doubled their lead. A nice bit of passing play left Rodgers in to finish past Wilton after cutting in from the right to receive a pass from Grant.

Ferris came so close to getting BSC right back in it, but the ball was just behind him from Robert Jones’ low cross.

Rodgers nearly scored an identical goal to his first just before the hour mark, but Wilton made a great save with his right to put it behind for a corner.

With 15 minutes remaining, Shire were awarded a penalty after Bell was penalised for tugging on Grant’s shirt right on the corner of the box.

Rodgers stepped up, and Wilton got down well to push it away, only for the ball to fall right back to the winger who knocked it home.

Barclay made his best save of the afternoon from a Traynor free kick, after Ferris was fouled by Faulds. The keeper rose to palm the ball over the bar and prevented the curling strike from going right into the top corner.

Shire defended solidly during the final stages, and had one final chance only for Grant’s effort to come off the post before the full time whistle went.

BSC will look to get back to winning ways once again as they make the trip to Abbey Vale for the second time in their history.

Ferris was part of the team that won 3-1 that day on their way to winning the South Challenge Cup.
