BSC Glasgow.........0

Beith Juniors...........1

William Hill Scottish Cup

BSC Glasgow were left heartbroken last Saturday after a last-gasp strike saw them edged out of the Scottish Cup by Beith Juniors.

The tie looked to be heading for a replay down in Ayrshire, with BSC producing a defiant display that was exemplified keeper Joe Wilton's heroics between the sticks.

But the stalemate was eventually broken, and in dramatic style, with a 94th-minute winner from Mark McLaughlin sealing the win for Beith.

The away side set up with a back three and looked to get the ball from back to front quickly.

Kenny McLean had the ball in the net within three minutes, though he was clearly offside when he knocked in Paul Frize’s wayward shot.

Tom Woods had BSC’s first real chance with 20 minutes gone, after a great bit of skill by Gerard Traynor down the left, but his first-time effort from 12 yards was blocked.

Beith's Darren Christie and Conner McGlinchey swung great crosses in all game long, but McLean couldn’t take advantage after one particular cross halfway through the opening period.

The sides went in goalless at the break, before the visitors came out and dominated possession in the early stages of the second half.

McLean had a big chance after McLaughlin stole the ball on the half way line and laid the striker in, but the striker toe-poked wide.

Lewis Bell had to be alert to stop substitute Thomas Collins after a long ball forward, with the teenager getting back to defend well and prevent a chance from forming.

Collins had another chance from a similar ball forward, but was thwarted by an excellent stop by Wilton, rushing out to clear with his legs.

The BSC keeper then looked to be a match saver for his side as he stopped Collins’ penalty.

An excellent run into the area by Christie was stopped by a Mark Toner challenge, and referee Lorraine Clark immediately pointed to the spot.

After a great stop down to his right, Wilton got back up to block the rebound and then jumped on the ball to keep the scores level.

BSC then came inches away from finding a winner of their own with Holms unable to convert Traynor's cross.

However the deadlock was finally broken – and with the last kick of the game.

McLaughlin picked up the ball in the penalty area after a punt forward from Stephen Grindlay, before dribbling past the injured Lewis Bell, down in the area, and hammering home.

A tough finale for BSC who will now be looking to bounce back when they return to league action with a trip to Whitehill Welfare this weekend.

It will be the Mark Adams' first return to Rosewell since his tenure as the club's assistant manager before joining BSC as under-20’s manager at the beginning of last season.
