SAUCHIE manager Fraser Duncan has warned the rest of the league to expect a frightening display of firepower when the juniors return to action in January.

The gaffer watched on as his side hit Brechin Vics for four in the East of Scotland Cup on Saturday, with goals coming from strikers Stephen Higgins and Ryan Miller.

The week previously, Josh Flood bagged a brace to shoot down Armadale in the league.

And with Darren Cummings and skipper Brian Morgan both soon to return from injury, Duncan feels he has a wealth of attacking options to hand.

He told Advertiser Sport: "It's always good to have competition in the team, and up front we have so much firepower at our disposal.

"Higgins scored at the weekend there, that's his second, and both were very important for us. He scored the equaliser a couple of weeks ago, and opened the scoring on Saturday there.

"We knew he was a good player when we brought him here and he'll cause a lot of problems if we continue to provide the service.

"And there's Ryan Miller, he scored twice against Brechin, and he is a constant threat with his pace.

"He's top scorer now and I'm sure there will be a few others in the team chasing him for that title.

"And that's what you want. As a team you rely on strikers to break the deadlock.

"We still have Brian Morgan and Darren Cummings to come back as well. They're both back in training, and when they are fit we will have a lot of options in attack."

Sauchie maintained their interest in the East of Scotland Cup, by dispatching Brechin Vics 4-1 at the weekend.

Higgins opened the scoring, follow by Miller's brace, with Jon Tully firing home shortly before the visitors grabbed their consolation goal from the spot.

And by claiming three wins from three in December, Duncan hopes his troops will continue their march to the title after the winter break.

He said: "That's twice we've been up to Brechin and got the same result. It's always difficult to go away in the cup an get a result, but we're delighted we've been able to get through.

"I think, in the end, our fitness was key. We brought the boys back early in the summer to work on that early and, at the minute, we're just running over the top of teams in the second half.

"Along with our attacking pace, our fitness is a big part of our game. But we'll need to manage that over the next few weeks.

"That's us finished up for the year, and so it will be important to take a break and rest up properly.

"January will be a big month; we have a two big league games and then there's the Scottish Cup.

"If we win those then we're into the 4th round of the cup and we'll have made a strong claim for the league title.

"We've had a good record so far, and a good January could set us up for a great season."
