A NASTY collision between Wasps goalkeeper Neil Parry and Stenhousemuir’s Alistair Roy in the second half of Saturday’s match left both players grounded.

After a trip to hospital they have been released and are recovering from the injury.

Neil Parry told Advertiser Sport: “Obviously I was knocked out for I don’t know how long but the more concerning thing was there was blood coming out of my ear.

“But it was a cut inside my ear so nothing too bad. My ear’s swollen up but I’m feeling a million times better so it’s just one of those things.

“I think the young boy Ally (Roy) took the worst of it unfortunately but I managed to message him and he’s on the mend. He’ll need a couple of weeks to get back.”

The former Airdrie man is confident that he will be able to return to his duties sooner rather than later.

He added: “There’s no reason why I won’t be able to come back on Thursday and be ready for Saturday.

“He [Jim Goodwin] seemed to think there might be some protocol with concussion but all I can say is that I definitely feel well enough within myself.

“I wouldn’t like to think I’d miss a game but he thought there might be some ruling on that so I’ll need to wait and see.”

Parry was delighted to see Alloa respond to conceding a goal by going on to secure victory at Ochilview.

He said: "It’s been déjà vu. We’re constantly conceding goals and coming back but unfortunately just drawing games.

“I thought we looked a lot livelier up front and although we conceded that goal, I don’t think I really had a save to make apart from that so we looked a lot more solid at the back as well.

“It was a great performance in horrible conditions. I don’t think a lot would of people appreciate how bad it was to actually play in so to get the three points, it was pleasing.”

The goalkeeper believed that Jim Goodwin was justified in changing his shape to counter the threat posed by Stenhousemuir.

“He went to a back three and put himself at the back. With that I think he thought that the Stenny wide players were the biggest threat and that we should match up Cal and Taggs, our wingbacks, against them.

“That was the thinking, to bring a bit more balance, and to be fair I think it worked. They didn’t really create much.”

Parry went on to praise the performances of the forward players as they put the Warriors’ defence to the sword.

He said: “I would say that probably more than anything was the reason we won. Up front the effort’s been there but just the wee things haven’t been coming off for us.

“I think yesterday, like the pass back to the goalie that we nipped in on, those wee things went for us. The strikes that we had on goal were going in.

“I think it clicked a bit more. Personally I thought Kev Cawley and Kirky were outstanding. Those two were the real stars on show. To get a good win and score four goals, it’s been long overdue for us.”

Due to having used all of their substitutions at the time of Parry’s injury, Andrew Graham put on the gloves for the remaining stages of the game.

However, Parry is not worried that the centre-back is staking a claim for his position.

“He’s that kind of enthusiastic big guy that he probably would have enjoyed the chance,” he added.

“I was texting him today asking him because I didn’t see the goal and he was claiming it was a worldy and that he’d came and got a few crosses.”

“He seemed to make out that he’d had a good performance but I’d need to take a look back at it and see if he did.”
