SAUCHIE skipper Brian Morgan says it feels good to be back after he made his return from injury during last week’s victory over Arniston.

Morgan spent several months on the sidelines having suffered a broken leg and admitted having to watch his team-mates perform so well without him has been difficult.

Now the midfielder is determined to put his spell on the sidelines behind him and help Sauchie continue their charge towards the Premier League title.

Morgan told Advertiser Sport: “I played 70 minutes in a friendly against Bo’ness and then got the last 20 minutes last weekend. It is good to finally be back.

"I was pushing to get in the team just before Christmas and was on the bench a couple of times but Fraser and Adrian didn’t want me to rush back. Getting on the bench was good because it gave me something to work for. I had set myself the goal of getting involved in some way before Christmas and I had loads of help. The physio and my family helped me out a lot. Everyone at the club has been great with me.

“It was difficult watching on while the boys were doing so well. Before the injury I was playing well and was scoring goals, and when things are like that you just want to be out there all the time. But it was good to see the boys playing well even if I wasn’t able to be out there.

"You always want your teammates to do well and to be fair to them they have stepped up to the mark.”

However, Morgan admitted that he has learned a lot from his enforced watching brief and revealed that he is set to start his coaching badges.

He said: “Watching from the side has been a learning curve. It has been really interesting watching how people react to different situations. You learn to watch the game in a different way.

"I spoke to Fraser and I have decided to do my coaching badges. I’m only 27 so I’ve got a good few years of playing ahead of me but it is something I’m interested in.”

Now that he is back fit, Morgan is firmly focused on Saturday’s Scottish Cup tie against Broughty Athletic, and says Sauchie have every chance of springing a surprise.

He added: “This is the furthest we have got in the Scottish Cup for a few years. You want to stay in it as long as you can. Broughty are going well in the Super League and have recruited well over the past year.

"There might be spells in the game when we might not have the ball as much as we are used to and other things like that so we will have to work hard in training. But if we go into the game the way we always do, we have got a good chance.”
