SCOTT Taggart admitted last Saturday’s clash with Albion Rovers was a typical ‘game of two halves’ as the Wasps were held to a frustrating draw.

Taggart put his side ahead in the first half, but the Wasps were pegged back with 20 minutes to go and neither side was able to find a winner.

And the full-back believes that in the end, a share of the spoils was a fair outcome.

Taggart told Advertiser Sport: “We were the better team in the first half but they were much better after half time, and to be honest we never really got going in the second half. On the balance of play they probably deserved the draw but you are always disappointed in that situation. We had a few good passages of play in the second half but to be honest they were dominant pretty much from the start of the half. We could have crumbled late on with the amount of pressure we were under but we held firm.”

The defender’s strike was only his second of the season and he revealed he was delighted to have doubled his tally for the campaign.

He said: “I don’t score many so I’ll certainly take it. It opened up nicely for me so I just had a go and fortunately for me it flew into the bottom corner. I don’t know if the keeper was unsighted or not because he didn’t move but I don’t think he’d have got there anyway because it was curling away from him into the corner. I’m pleased with it because I don’t often score!”

Taggart reckons Saturday’s game against league leaders Livingston can be the catalyst for the Wasps to catch the league leaders, but he admitted that they have to start turning draws into wins if they are to close the eleven-point gap.

He added: “Livingston won again on Saturday and most people now reckon they will be champions. They probably think that themselves, but this game is a good chance for us to close the gap. We are at home and if we play as well as we know we can we will stand a good chance of beating them. We have been drawing too many games recently to be honest but in every game we have faced a tough test. There are no easy games in this division and our recent form has shown that, but we are confident that we will start picking up wins again.”
