SAUCHIE boss Fraser Duncan admitted his side will be massive underdogs at Glenafton this Saturday, but reckons they remain capable of springing a famous victory for the club.

The Juniors have won plaudits for their run to the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup, and the manager is hoping it is not the end of the road yet.

With just days before the big kick off, Duncan is urging the whole of the Wee County to get behind the side and make the trip to Ayrshire to support them.

He told Advertiser Sport: "We are massive underdogs and to be honest I don't think anyone is expecting us to get anything out of it, but I think the fact they are underestimating us is a good thing.

"We will have our say and we will be well up for it. It is a big experience for the players. We will give Glenafton respect but we deserve some in return as well. We know how far we have come as a team.

"A lot of people have said that one of Glenafton's main strengths is their togetherness, but I'm yet to see a team better than us in that respect.

"We will match them in terms of team spirit, and we have to make sure we match them on the football front as well."

Duncan added: "I just want the community to get behind us because this is one of the biggest games in the club's history.

"This is the furthest the club has ever been and if we are to go one step further we need the fans' backing.

"We know the odds are stacked against us, but if we can get a big support behind us we might just pull off the unthinkable."

Sauchie have been handed a boost by the return of captain Brian Morgan, who made his comeback from a broken leg during last Saturday's victory over St Andrews.

And Duncan says that even if his skipper does not start against Glenafton, he still has an important role for the team.

He said: "It might be asking a bit much of Morgy for him to be able to start on Saturday, but we are just delighted to have him back involved.

"He is the sort of character who pushes everyone else on and, against St Andrews, I think the other boys got a lift from having him back in the squad. Even if he doesn't start, he has a huge part to play."

And although last Saturday's hat-trick hero Steven Higgins is cup-tied, Duncan believes his team still have enough firepower to cause their illustrious opponents problems.

He added: "Ryan Millar has been excellent this season and has chipped in with his fair share of goals, and even though Moses Olanrewaju is still settling in and learning about junior football, he is getting there and his goal showed that.

"Other players like Darren Cummings, David Morrison and Josh Flood are all capable of scoring and we are a threat from set-pieces too, so we are dangerous."
