SAUCHIE manager Fraser Duncan has admitted his side are "right up against it" in their hunt for promotion this season.

A blistering start to the campaign put the Beechwood Park side in pole position to claim not only the title, but a return to the top flight.

However, a downturn in results has heaped pressure on the Juniors, who now need to win three of their remaining five games to seal the top spot.

Indeed, Duncan has admitted that the poor spell his side are enduring just now feels like history repeating itself, after an end-of-season slide 12 months ago which saw them fall out of the Super League trapdoor.

He told Advertiser Sport: “This spell we are having feels a lot like last season, and we are just desperate to get to the end of the season.

"We always start really well and come flying out of the traps but then we get to this time of year, when the pitches are horrible, and we struggle.”

The manager is determined to turn Sauchie’s fortunes around tomorrow with the visit of Tayport and he insisted that his players know the size of the task in hand.

Duncan added: “Saturday is all about the three points. We have to put a performance in and not give away silly goals.

"We are now right up against it to be honest. We need three wins from five, which is not impossible, but the way we are playing at the minute, it makes it very difficult.

"We really need to bounce back, starting on Saturday, and the boys know that.”
