HUNDREDS of youngsters took part in this year's Kwik Cricket competition at The Arns.

A total of 156 pupils from 14 primary schools were brought along by the Council’s Sports Development team.

Hosted by Clackmannan County Cricket Club, this was an opportunity for P6 children to sample the sport in a festival setting, using proper equipment at a designated venue.

Games were played in a round-robin format, with teams playing three competitive matches.

The pupils were also lucky enough to take part in a coaching session led by Gordon Oliver of Clackmannan CCC and their overseas player Tanya Kagumba from Zimbabwe.

Menstrie A were the gold medal winners, with St Serf's A taking silver, and bronze going to Abercromby.

The day was made possible by volunteers and Gordon Oliver and his staff at the cricket club.

Clackmannan County Cricket Club host juniors and Young Cougars training every Friday night at 6.30pm.

If any pupils or local children would like to go along then the cricket club would be more than happy to welcome them to enjoy and experience cricket in a club environment.
