JASON MARR has paid tribute to Alloa fans this week, after announcing that he will be leaving the club in the summer.

The defender has been at the Indodrill Stadium for five years, after being signed up by manager Paul Hartley in 2012.

He marked his 100th appearance for the Wasps with a 4-0 opening day victory over Peterhead last August.

The stopper has also claimed a number of important goals for the club, including winners against Premiership side Inverness in the league cup and Brechin in the league.

He will also likely be remembered for scoring in the 1-1 draw with Rangers in February 2016, when he earned himself a booking for celebrating with his mum in the crowd.

Announcing the news on his Twitter account, Marr said it had been an "absolute pleasure" to play for the club and its fans.

He said: "After five great seasons, I'm gutted to say that I have left Alloa Athletic.

"I would've loved to have stayed but you can't always change someone's opinion of you.

"I just want to say a massive thank you to all associated with the club, from the top to the bottom. There are some amazing people there that I'm grateful to have got to know and call friends.

"To the fans, it's been an absolute pleasure to play for you and your club. There aren't many of you but you have always been there and been absolutely fantastic with me the past five years and I really can't thank you enough."

Meanwhile, young defender Lewis Wilson also confirmed he would be moving on from the Wasps after 12 years with the club.

He described his disappointment at leaving, but said he had made good memories and friends along the way.
