THE Alloa Saints 2011-12 and 2005 squads took part in a sponsored football skills challenge on Tuesday, May 9.

A number of parents and relatives accompanied the boys along to encourage them as they tried their skills in passing, shooting, crossbar challenge and keepy-uppy.

And due to the efforts of all concerned, there was over £800 raised on the night with more coming in.

Thanks to the money raised the parents and players from, the club will head off to one-day festivals in June and August this year in Hamilton, Alexandria and St Andrews.

The club would like to pass on their thanks to all who helped and raise the valuable funds.

I addition, coaches would also like to thank St Johnstone Football Club and their head of public relations Ross Cunningham as well as schools engagement manager Megan Moss for arranging for their co-mascot Brogan to attend the event.

The club's beagle proved a popular with all the players and presented each of the squad players with specially-priced tickets for the recent SPFL Premiership match v Partick Thistle.

Brogan, who is now Euro-bound with the St Johnstone squad qualifying for Europe, has been busy promoting the club's pricing policy which sees all accompanied children under the age of 12 getting into matches for free and one adult accompanied by two kids getting into the SSE Family Stand for only £16.

Meanwhile, the Alloa Saints are busy preparing for the next season and are looking to bring in new players to supplement the 2005 squad as they move to 11-a-side football.

The club has no joining fee and all kit and strips are provided through corporate sponsorship.

Any players interested in coming along for a trial should contact Paul on 07968200863 or come along to training on Tuesday night Alloa Academy at 6.30pm.
