WEE COUNTY pupils took part in the S1-S3 schools softball competition recently.

Alva Academy staged the event with all three secondary schools providing a mixed team of both boys and girls.

The hosts claimed victory over Lornshill in the opening, winning five runs to two, before then taking on Alloa.

The latter were very strong in fielding, and initially kept the Alva side at bay, but the hosts showed their strength and won the game by five runs to one, giving them the lead in the competition.

Lornshill then claimed their first victory of the day by beating Alloa four runs to one, with a great display of both fielding and batting.

The second round of matches got underway with Alva only needing one victory out of the three to seal the title.

This came in their second match against Lornshill as they ran out five to one winners.

Alloa fought hard to stop Alva in the next match but again Alva proved too strong and won the match by four runs to two.

The last game of the day saw Lornshill and Alloa compete for the silver medal.

Though it was a very tight and competitive game, Alloa had the winning edge that was needed and took the game by four runs to three.

Congratulations to Alva Academy who won all of their matches and took the title of the S1-S3 softball champions.

Alloa Academy were runners up with Lornshill Academy claiming the bronze medal.
