SAUCHIE have begun the task of rebuilding with the first appointments to the club's new working group.

The club will be led by long-serving supporter Noel Dalli, with Robert McAdam acting as secretary.

Both were appointed at last Friday evening's EGM, which had been called following the resignation of the entire committee, including chairman Mike Bennett.

The coming season will see a change in structure, with the working group aiming to attract a band of volunteers to carry out various duties around Beechwood Park.

In addition, Dalli and McAdam are also hoping to provide a stable base for the club to go on and consolidate its place in the East Super League.

Dalli told Advertiser Sport: "We have got a fantastic opportunity to move forward and with myself and Robert in place.

"Over the next couple of weeks we will be speaking to players, both old and new, and continuing the process of rebuilding the squad for the coming season.

"We are making good progress on the field, but you have to get it right off it too. You have to have stability, and it's very important that everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet. We need the fans to do their bit."

McAdam added: "We had to get everything sorted from the top of the tree down.

"The two of us have a lot of experience with Sauchie Juniors. We have followed the club, we have been on the committee before, and we know what it's all about.

"Now our job is to get the rest of the people in place to make sure Sauchie Juniors moves forward.

"We have done this before. We had a working party and it worked well. We asked people to volunteer to do various jobs around the club.

"There was a lot of work done to the stand and the ground in years gone by, and that was all done by people giving up their time for the club."

Dalli went on to pay tribute to the outgoing committee, thanking them for their efforts in recent seasons.

He said: "The chairman and the secretary have done so much for the club over the past two or three years. I would like to thank the old committee for their efforts. It must have been an extremely difficult decision for them to step down."
