WEE COUNTY snooker star Eden Sharav returns to action this week at the Riga Masters event.

The 25-year-old, who retained his tour card for another two seasons, will face former world no 2 Jimmy White on Friday.

If he can see of the challenge of the Whirlwind, Sharav will take on either compatriot Alan McManus or Norway's Kurt Maflin in the second round on Saturday.

He would then have to negotiate a further three rounds if he is to book his place in Sunday's final.

The Clacks man secured his seat in Latvia with a courageous performance in the qualifiers three weeks ago.

Coming from three frames down, Sharav ran out 4-3 winner against Malaysia's Thor Chuan Leong.

White, who beat Jake Jones in the Riga qualifier, later followed up with a disappointing 5-0 defeat to Ryan Day at the China Championship Qualifiers.

Both Sharav and his opponent go into this Friday's fixture eager to shoot their way into contention for big prize money.
