FRASER DUNCAN says it's time for Sauchie Juniors to look to the future after returning to his position as manager.

Duncan resigned three weeks ago, after an internal dispute with the club's committee, but with a new working group now in place he has agreed to a comeback.

And the gaffer insists he is fully focused on getting his squad ready for their return to the Super League.

Duncan told Advertiser Sport: "I am glad to be back. The only thing I can say to the supporters is a massive thank you for all the backing they have given me.

"I've been at the club for eight years and all I've ever wanted is what's best for the club.

"Sauchie have always backed me and I'm thankful for that. Hopefully now we can look forward to the next eight years."

He added: "Stories have been getting passed here and there but we need to put that behind us. Sauchie Juniors needs to move forward from that. We have to get things moving and that's what we are focusing on just now.

"There are new members of the committee now and we have had a few discussions.

"They have offered me my position as manager and obviously I am delighted to have accepted it.

"But the hard work starts now. We have got a number of players to speak to so we will be cracking on with that as soon as possible."

Duncan says his first target for the season is to re-establish Sauchie in the top flight, but is hopeful of being able to set more ambitious goals as the campaign progresses.

He said: "Your first thought after promotion is always to stay in the league. There will be other goals but first and foremost it will be about survival.

"If we bring in the right kind of players and strengthen in the right areas, then we might get to a position where we can shift that target a little higher. That's what we want to do.

"I've never been a manager who is content to sit back and play defensively. The teams in the Super League will know that my teams play with energy and work very hard. It's all about grit and desire while playing good football."

The Sauchie boss admitted that the club are now playing catch-up in terms of their preparations, but remains confident of bringing in the players he needs before the big kick-off.

Duncan added: "We have got a lot of catching up to do. I need to go and speak to players and get them down on paper.

"We have some work to do in terms of organising pre-season, and we also have to think about recruitment. I would say we need five or six fresh faces.

"We need to bring in players up front. I'd also like to bring in a centre-back because we've lost Ollie Fleming to Berwick Rangers.

"One or two wide midfielders would help us too. The core of our team is excellent but if we can add some players in the wide areas, it will make a massive difference."
