A TULLIBODY teenager has bagged a gold medal at a prestigious European boxing tournament.
Billie Denholm, fought three bouts at the Silensian Womens’ Tournament in Gliwice, Poland, and won all of them with unanimous verdicts.
The 17-year-old, who fought against two Polish and one Latvian opponent, emerged victorious in the 48kg division.
Last year the Forth Valley College student was crowned one of the UK’s top boxers after winning a silver medal at the annual GB Tri-nations Boxing Championships.
She said: “It is a great feeling to win, though I have surprised myself as I was up against the top female boxers from 21 countries around Europe.
“I really enjoy boxing and I would recommend students to give it a try and start training.
“The Forth Valley College gyms and Wai and his staff are great as well and I would advise anyone thinking about getting fit, to get in touch with them.”
The young talent has been competing in the ring for around three years and trains every week at Jonesy’s Boxing Club in Plean and at the Forth Valley College gym.
Forth Valley College’s leisure facilities coordinator Waimun Lee, added: “Well done to Billie for bringing home a gold medal, what a great effort.
“She deserves all the success she gets as she trains very hard to be the best at what she does.”
