LOAN-STAR PJ Crossan was delighted with the Wasps' display after they saw off Albion Rovers at the Indodrill Stadium last Saturday.

The young Celtic striker, who recently extended his stay in Clacks until the end of the season, got on the scoresheet as Jim Goodwin's side ran out 3-1 winners.

But Alloa had to come from behind to win, and the forward believes going behind early on gave his side a fright.

Crossan told Advertiser Sport: "In the first half we were good and passed the ball really well. We were quite open defensively but I thought we were good overall.

"The second half was a different type of game. They were putting quite a bit of pressure on because they needed a goal but we did well to hold on and get the win.

"We went behind last week [against Queen's Park] as well and teams do try to sit in and defend the lead. Going behind was actually maybe a good thing for us because it gave us a bit of a shock. The way we reacted was good."

After Ross Stewart's equaliser, Crossan struck just before half-time tot send the Wasps in at the break with a lead to defend, and the loanee was impressed with his side's ability to keep Rovers at bay.

He said: "I'm not sure how long before half-time the goal came but it was very important because it meant we went in while we were in the lead. That gives you a good feeling going into the second half.

"We had chances in the second half but Neil Parry did really well to keep us in the game a couple of times.

"We would have liked to have put the game to bed a bit earlier and score another couple of goals but it's always hard to do that when they are attacking.

"They've got some good players going forward so we did well to keep them out."

Alloa will look to continue their current good run when they take on East Fife on Saturday, and Crossan is hopeful that they can cement their place in the League One playoff places.

He added: "The East Fife game is another big one on Saturday. They are still quite close to us so if we beat them it will help us consolidate third place. To be honest, every game is big in this division. It should be a great game."
