SAUCHIE assistant manager Adrian Hanson says he has high hopes for the club’s youngsters after they impressed against Forfar West End last Saturday.

With the first team suffering from an injury crisis, a host of players stepped up from Sauchie’s under-19 side, and Hanson reckons they didn’t put a foot wrong.

Now the club are eager to get the youngsters integrated into the first team squad at Beechwood Park ahead of next season.

Hanson told Advertiser Sport: “The young boys who came in from the under-19s didn’t play with any fear at all and really took their opportunity. They have done well and should be very proud of themselves.

“Their manager Jim Law has been very fair to them, and they have been training as part of the club for a while now.

"The boys who have played so far haven’t looked out of place at all. They all did really well and hopefully they have a very bright future in the game.

“We are definitely looking to get them involved in the squad for the start of next season, and we’ll bring them in for pre-season and see how they get on.”

The Wee County side’s trip to Angus to take on struggling Forfar ended in stalemate, but Hanson insisted that his side were the better team throughout.

And he reckons that on another day, Sauchie would have won comfortably given the amount of chances they had to take all three points.

He said: “We really dominated the game in the first half. We had some clear-cut chances which we maybe should have converted.

"Darren Dolan had a couple of saves to make which he did really well with but apart from that Forfar rarely troubled us.

"They had a good spell in the second half, but I think over the piece we were very unfortunate we were very unfortunate not to get the win.

“Their keeper has made a couple of outstanding saves. Conor Kelly will maybe be a bit disappointed with one of his chances. We were certainly the better team over the course of the game.”
