GRANGEMOUTH Flag Football Club are celebrating after having a very successful two days last weekend.

On Saturday, the Colts travelled to Paisley to play their second set of games in the BAFA Div 1 HNC league and managed to come came away with two excellent wins.

In the first game the Colts were out for revenge for their league debut defeat which ended 25-20 to the Midlothian Sabers.

It was obvious the Colts meant business after scoring the first touchdown then stopping the Sabers’ first offensive drive.

With another touchdown and extra point on offence and an interception on defence. the Colts had a 20-6 lead at half-time.

In a slightly flatter second half, two Colts interceptions effectively killed off most of the Sabers’ momentum, while the Colts added to their lead with another touchdown and extra point. The Colts won the game 27 points to 6.

Following on from the great performance on Saturday, the Broncos travelled to Newcastle to play three cross-conference games against teams in the MEC (North of England).

Game one was against the Manchester Titans. The Broncos got off to a good start with a timely sack from veteran player Jimmy Thomson on the Titans QB.

The Broncos took the lead on their first offensive play as Scott McKenzie passed to Liam Fleming who sprinted for the end-zone.

The teams then traded touchdowns, the Broncos missing their XP and the Titans getting theirs, to tie it up at 13-13 as it headed for the break. A late score just before the half, including the extra point, gave the Broncos a 20-13 lead at half-time.

While the Broncos started with the ball in the second half, it was the Titans who got on the score sheet next, but another missed extra point meant the Broncos still had a slender one point lead.

The Titans were not done yet and pegged back the Broncos lead to 33-25, but the Broncos swiftly stepped on the gas again with another touchdown and extra point to complete the scoring.

Good start for the Broncos with a 40-25 win.

In the second game the Broncos faced old adversaries, the Newcastle Blackhawks. The Blackhawks were first to score.

In the second half the Broncos Defence seemed to have worked out the Blackhawks offence and didn't concede a point. Meanwhile the Broncos continued to put points on the board. The game ended with a comfortable win for the Broncos.

In their final game of the day the Broncos played the Manchester Crows.

While the Broncos failed to score on their first drive, an interception from Fraser Thomson gave them a second bite at the cherry, which they took as they scored a touchdown. The Crows didn't panic though and scored a touchdown and an extra point to briefly take the lead at 7-6.

The final play of the game was a length of the field TD from Kevin Woods, in his final league game for the club before he goes to work in Camp America. A fitting send off as the club won three games on the bounce.
